Decent tire except for a blowout
I am surprised that these General tires do as well as they do. About 30 years ago I put a pair of Generals on my front wheels of my Civic. After about a week or two it rained a bit. The road was still a little damp when I got a green light and the tires spun. I drive gently, so I was extremely surprised. I had to move them to the rears. I stayed away from General until a year ago when I found they were the standard tire for a brand new Passport Trailsport. They perform MUCH better than the Generals of yesteryear, but not nearly as good as the Michelin's that I typically get as replacements. After barely over 10,000 miles one blew out. Not sure if it was due to quality issues or impact. My wife was driving on the expressway. She says she did not hit any pothole and no cars ahead of her were swerving to avoid any object in the road. The right rear is the one that blew and she said she didn't hear any thump-thump (front tire hitting something before the rear hits the same thing). Just the explosion of air coming out. Not sure how to tell what the cause actually was. Probably never will.
